Visio IT Platform Engineer
Currently seeking an experienced IT Platform engineer to perform application profiling activities and develop data center migration supporting documentation. In addition to a strong Visio background, the ideal candidate will have the following skill-set:
Responsibilities will include:
-- Documenting applications topologies (footprint and flows) according to engineering standards.
-- Validating topologies using tools already deployed in the current environment (InfiniStream, Wireshark) or by running queries such as WMI.
-- Coordinating with the application development teams to validate the topologies.
-- Working with application owners and infrastructure teams to develop shut-down and restart procedures for the migration.
Minimum Skills Required:
-- Visio
-- Application topologies documentation and analysis
-- Infrastructure environment scanning (WMI, etc.)
-- Network sniffers
Additional Skills:
-- Application Mapping Tools/ usage experience (for example: TADDM, Tideway, nLayer)
Experience installing and configuring the following platform software:
-- Microsoft Windows
-- Windows Server 2003 Standard, 32/64 bit or greater.
-- Windows Server 2003 Enterprise, 32/64 bit or greater.
-- VMware ESX 3.5 or greater.
-- Sun Solaris (Unix)
-- Sun Solaris 10
-- Middleware
-- IIS 6.0
-- IBM Webshpere 6.1
-- Oracle Client 10.2.0.1.0
-- Crystal Enterprise XI
Knowledge of:
IT technical documentation methods and procedures.
Basics of operating systems and hardware, client side and server side support.
Microsoft Visio and the Office Suite of products.
Ability to:
Edit written material and verify accuracy.
Assist in design review and technical planning meetings.
Ensure adherence to the organizations standards and specifications.
Plan technical diagram layout and document design.
